It has all the power you need to correct or polish paint with the 6" matching pads. The Boss pads are designed for this machine, so I would recommend using the Griots pads, and keeping it with the 6" plate.
With the less powerful GG6 orbital machine, I use the 5" backing plate with the 5" pads.
If your paint is in good shape, just use an all-in-one polish, like HD Speed, and then use a high quality wax or a sio2 spray to finish the job.

Thanks @Bill. That makes sense to stay with the same brand. I will give the HD Speed a try as i have read good reviews on it. Just to be safe should i clay before or just do a test with the AIO alone first to see the results?

You are welcome, glad to help. For my 5th wheel I am using Meguiars Flagship Marine cleaner wax. When I get to our truck and car, they are going to need a bit of compounding, polishing and then a wax so will not be using an AIO in the short term.

The stock G9 6" backing plate sticks good to the Buff & Shine Euro pads, no issues with the velcro hooks, FWIW...

Re: Groits Garage G9 favorite and Best Combination
Hi to all that helped me with my purchase.
I have received the G9 and did a test with my Explorer 2011 on the Hood and Bumper using HD Speed 3 in 1 and 3M Wax and i have to say i am very pleased with the results.
Attached is a pic of how the Hood came out for reference in case you want to suggest me something. I used 2 passes in speed 3-4 only with the Griots Orange and Black Pad. I think is OK but should I use a better Wax. What you think?
Now i will be working with some Rock Chips on the Bumper and Hood and will like to know after i refill the chip with the paint and clear should i sand to smooth the excessive paint that i put and which sand should i use or is there any other method?
