Re: Makita PO5000C no longer for sale?
It could be a situation where PMBG stopped carrying them. They're still on the Makita website for now.

Has anyone confirmed that it is actually discontinued?? Could be that PBMG just quit selling them. If they aren’t selling many that’s a lot of inventory dollars just sitting on the shelf. It’s all about inventory turns.

I could see Makita discontinuing this if wasn't selling well. (Regardless of how well it might preform for those who love it)
They sell hundreds of different kinds of power tools unlike some who only sell a few or just specialize in polishers.
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.

I don't believe Makita has discontinued this tool.

I do believe you summarized the issue.

Dear forum members,
I just received a reply from Makita and the PO5000C is NOT discontinued. Perhaps slow sales here at AG/PBMG led them to mark as such from their perspective. Glad to see it is alive and well - love it as a gear driven machine. Directly from Makita:
Hello, Scott!
PO5000C are active and are in stock.
Thank you,
Miguel

Sorry to see that this is no longer available from Autogeek. I was just about to order one. At the 2018 Indy Road Show Detailing Class (which I highly recommend) I had the opportunity to try one of these and was very impressed with it! The Makita and the Flex were the only DA polishers that would not stop rotating under pressure for me. Yeah I tend to press down too hard sometimes. The Flex is a great forced rotation DA polisher too but a lot more expensive. The Makita would serve my needs just fine.
All the other detailing stores seemed to have stopped selling this as well. Anybody that wants one can still get them from tool supply houses though.

I personally was not a fan of this tool. I tried and tried to like it. Just didn’t happen.
The 3401 is still king! (Sorry Mille fans) untill the new Flex forced rotation machine come out here in the USA....

I noticed ACME Tools has it listed on their website for $379. Not sure what AutoGeek was selling it for though.
