PC Power Cable
The power cable has to face a certain way to make contact and work correctly. Any suggestions on a cord replacement? Is it a DIY job or should I find a tools repair store.
If DIY what cable lenght do you recommend or brand?

Re: PC Power Cable
I would go to you local home depot or equal hardware store and loot at what cables they have available. Not that hard to change out a cord just make sure the replacement cord is capable of handeling the number of amps the PC draws. At the most you might have to do some solder work.

Re: PC Power Cable
Why not just get and extension cord?
I've thought about your idea, but the extension cord is better as it makes it easier to store, and don't have to deal with a longer attached cable all the time. JMO...

Re: PC Power Cable
I use an extension cord, but I am saying the black power cord that goes into the back of the PC is damaged a little and warrants replacement. I rather replace the cable than the unit because of cost. Also if it was an option I would like it to be 12-15 foot long, but that is irrelevant to just fixing it, heck a 1 foot cable would work and most likely save from damage like this from ever occurring.

Re: PC Power Cable
Go to Lowes in the electical dept..they have wire on spools..they have power cord wire also..I have bought it a few times....all you need is a Male plug and I am not sure how its connected on the inside of a PC..maybe fast ons or soldered...but I have done a few power saws that had cords cut...lol...also the cord is a 2 conductor..so 2 wires..it comes in 12 or 14 guage I believe...
