Is it ok to dry a car with a compressor?

Results may vary... I wouldn't do it. I saw what happened to a car with a CQ Coating on it. The person blasted the air too close to the vehicle and destroyed the coating.

Second problem with run of the big-box-store compressors is little bits of oil end up making their way into the tank. I haven't used mine in a while and I left the air escape valve (on the bottom), there was a small table spoon size of oil on the floor. I called the manufacturer and they said moisture collected in the tank along with little bits of oil will get in the tank That is normal.

Having said all that, there are dedicated products on the market to safely dry your vehicle.

Air compressors can build up rust inside the tank due to moisture content in the air. If you are going to use an air compressor, it needs to have a sump/filter so that any rust particles don't sandblast your paint.

What he said. I worked in the beverage industry and some restaurant owners would use compressors without draining the moisture out of the tanks. It would cause issues in their systems as components would prematurely fail.
