    Meguiars D171 WBD

"Meguiars Water Based Dressing maintains an attractive luster on the dashboard, door panels, console, exterior trim, tires, leather or vinyl seats, plastic engine components, and rubber weatherstripping. The dressing has a high gloss shine when applied full strength but does not attract dust because it is water-based."

Just got a gallon and my intended use is just for interiors and engine bay. Wanted to know from those that use it; what are your impressions?

How about as a leather cleaner and conditioner? Looks to be safe on all surface types.

It's a good product for interior and engine bays. It can be used on leather, but I generally use other products for leather.

You can play with the dilution for the desired gloss.

I am going to try it out on leather, it does a great job with the rest of the interior.

Is there a difference bt Megs WBD and Vinyl 40 or is it basically the same product?

    Re: Meguiars D171 WBD

I do detail work for a dealership and they have the water based dressing there. It works ok on interiors but it was absolutely horrible for exterior use. I tried it fs on tires and it streaked and absorbed into the tire very uneven like. I used it on trim/wheel wells and it looked good for about an hour then as it dried it almost completely disappeared. My impression of this product is that is does not last long at all and I stopped using it. This is the only Meguiar's product I've found to be a complete fail(for what I needed it for) in my opinion especially when you compare it to any other similar product. CarPro Perl is just about as versatile as d171 but it lasts much longer and looks better. Just my opinion!

Thanx for the info. I only use it on interiors and have both D171 and Vinyl40. Just curious what is the difference bt the two. I have read good reviews on PERL.

Wonder if hyper dressing is better for interiors then D171.

    Re: Meguiars D171 WBD

Just a quick update on Megs WBD, I did the entire entire of my work car with WBD and it came out great. I spend allot of time in this vehicle and it sometimes acts like an office. I used a 75/25 mix instead of 50/50. The WBD darkened the trim, gave it a nice gloss, made the fake walnut look like cherry, just made everything look rich and has a great scent. Any co-worker that was in my vehicle noticed and really liked the look and smell.

It has been 1 month and the interior still looks great and does not need a reapplication yet.
