My motorhome has rubber seals around the windshield, and windows. It gets a similar look where the water runs over them.
This is a long shot in the dark, but if that is what it is spray a product called "black streak eliminator" onto it then wash with your regular car wash. Duragloss makes the one that I use.

First of all, happy holiday season to all, and hellow to the AG community. This is my first post but an issue that i also have an my Lac. I've never waxed my windshield but get a similar image in rain or dew and i attribute it to acid rain and hard water. Heading to S.C. and plan to use a mixture of dawn and amonia followed by a rain x.

Lemme know how it turns out!
I'll look into that black streak eliminator stuff.

I always use m105 with a mf cutting disc on DA. I have also followed it up with d301 finishing wax on a finishing disc. Never have I had that problem, but I have tackled the "camo" finish.

i found that 40 steel wool will leave micro scratches which will show up under the sun at certain angles. i was trying to get hard water spots off. be careful with it!

I couldn't find the Paint Prep on their website...it looks like they're removed that page. I think it would be fine to use on the windows. By spraying it on the paint, it will run down and get on the glass...so not sure why or how you can avoid it.

What I can't figure out is if I still have wax on my windshield, or not. Wouldn't all the stuff I use strip it? If there is no wax on there...wouldn't this garage stuff be pointless?
Might as well go with M105 then.

Would you do SOMETHING already?!?! You're giving me a headache. You don't have wax, you have 14 years worth of film, take it off with something abrasive already and let us know what happens. Eagle One used to make a glass polish that smelled like metal polish, I'm imagining that the same ingredient which removes oxides on metal removes water spots on glass, you might try some metal polish on a small area.
EDIT: Or go get some Bon Ami from the kitchen. Hurry up, it's almost dark!
