Suburban Rubber Door Trim...Need to remove marks

I am about to detail a white newer model Suburban that has a rubber-type trim that spans horizontally across the doors. I've encountered this before, but both vehicles were black so the marks weren't visible. I am hoping I can find anyone that has come across this and has a solution so I don't have to spend a lot of time experimenting when I'm on the clock. The trim is full of black "scuff marks". Any thoughts? Any help? Thanks AG'ers!

Is this rubber type trim black or white? Pics are always a big help. If it is painted white it is likely plastic body trim and you should be able to remove the scuff with compounding/polish as long as the damage isn't through the clear. Try a spot by hand and be careful. The paint on this trim is thin and usually more sensitive to heat generated while polishing much like plastic painted bumpers.

The rubber trim is painted white. I am kicking myself for not snapping a couple pics, but unfortunately I won't have access to the car until the time of detailing (next week or two). I agree, I believe I am just going to proceed with a hand application of polish to start. Thanks for the suggestion Craig!

Just to conclude this post and a FYI - I went with Meguiar's 105 polish on these panels, and with some good ol' elbow grease I was able to remove 95% of the marks.

Is this like the shadow trim that the BMW's have? If so I try polish and if that doesnt work I move to a compound, but a apply with a DA. It works quit well
