    Buffing out spot

    Hello,

I was washing my car last weekend and I noticed a small rust spot. I took it to a body shop and said either they can grind it down and touch it up or replace the whole hood. Looking for a second opinion to see if there are any other options.

Is it a fairly new car, maybe covered under corrosion warranty. If not needs repair there is no quick alternative to fixing that other than repaint.

    Re: Buffing out spot

That can't be buffed out that is a BSD
    (below surface defect)

That is rusting at the main panel , or a respray, or sanding it down with touch up paint is the answer.

(Please note) touch up paint is not meant to look 100% it does look some what cosmetically better but the main reason is to cover the panel so it prevents it from any further rusting from spreading.

That also looks like below the surface rust / corrsion. So even if you paint over it with touch up paint the corrosion is still in the base of the metal and it will most likely continue to rust and bubble back up.
