2014 Crystal Black Pearl Accord Questions with pics
Looking for the best way to tackle this...
The pics are a test spot after using mothers clay, and pinnacle detailer as lube.
I have had similar results with the clay marring the finish when it was new and a lot less contaminated. I have tried both meguiars, and mothers clay with the same results.
What is your guys experience with this particular vehicles paint system?
The pics show how contaminated the paint is, and the marring the clay leaves. So I'm not sure the best approach.
Paint is heavily contaminated, I can see and feel it.
I plan on some type of iron x decontamination first.
I'm thinking of ordering one of the Nanoskin Autoscrub Systems and using that instead of traditional clay.
I have a pc 7424, so i'm leaning towards the 4" pads, not sure which grit though?
Should I wash the car with dawn to try and remove some of the wax, before the iron x?
Then,
Iron x, wash and use prep pad, then polish, wash again, and then seal?
Thanks in advance

Re: 2014 Crystal Black Pearl Accord Questions with pics
Anytime you clay paint, it will marr the surface. The severity of marring will depend on a myriad of factors. How contaminated the paint is, the strength of the clay, how resistant the paint is to abrasion, etc.
It's always best practice to polish the surface after claying to remove the marring left behind from clay or clay alternatives such as the Nanoskin products.
Do not use dish soap to wash the car. Use a soap such as CarPro Snow soap to prep the surface.

Hondas are notorious for soft paint. I have the same color on my 2009 Acura TSX.
It will be marred by both nanoskin and/or clay. You will have to polish either way.
What are you looking to use for polishing?

Do you know what the contamination is? Seems likely to be tar in the location you picture, which Iron X isn't going to do much for. Have you tried a solvent? Stoner's Tarminator, CarPro Tar X or Trix? Mineral spirits?

If you find clay to mar the paint, I would not go the Nanoskin route. From my experience the Nanoskin product cause much more marring than traditional clay.
