    Picking compounds????

Hey guys. Looking for the a highly effective cutting compound that is safe for clearcoat. I have been told to be very careful when it comes to compounds. I have been told many compounds can be so abrasive they can remove clearcoat. I been working with the porter cable 7424 XP and yellow or orange pads on my customers vehicles when using compound.

I have used Meguiars Ultimate Compound and that seems okay but any others you recomend that will do better at removing scratches and etched in defects.

everybody is going to have there favorite. I use Mostly Meguiars M105 and Menzerna FG400 as far as compounds.

I also like Pinnacle Advanced Swirl Remover and CarPro Fixer.

All compounds will remove clear coat, how do you think the swirls/scratches are removed? Compounds are abrasive especially paired with the yellow and orange pads.

ALL compounds and polishes remove clear coat.

That is the mechanism by which they level the defects.

In my opinion, the pads being used are a much greater factor than the abrasive used.

You can cut with polish on an aggressive pad, but even an aggressive compound won't cut much at all on a soft finishing pad.

I agree. The pad is the key to the puzzle.

Remember there will be times you may not need to use a compound. Orange pad and an AIO product will give good results and its only 1 step and your done
