    First timer

Just got my PC, and I'm about to try my hand at paint correction. I'm going to start with Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion which is a mild abrasive. My question for you experts is, will using an orange pad instead of a less aggressive white pad cause any unintended issues? The white ones are on order, but I'd like to get started right away.

After the polish I'm going to put on a couple of coats of Souveran. The vehicle is blue. End goal is to make it look as good as possible.

If the end goal is to make it as good as possible you need at least a swirl remover or Pinnacle Advanced compound for the scratches. I believe that Pinnacle compound is less aggressive than the name sounds.

If the vehicle doesn't have many scratches like you say, I'd recommend going with the Pinnacle Advanced Finishing Polish over the Paint Cleanser. That way you're not getting all crazy aggressive [and it sounds like you'd rather not] but you still have enough to diminish those minor scratches and give your paint maximum shine. I've used that polish once and it left the finish looking amazing with just that 1 step.

If your only doing one cutting/polishing step I would not use the orange pad or any product too abrasive. It may hinder the gloss. If the paint is relatively free of swirls, use a white pad and a fine polish, then wax.

The cleanser has no abrasives, IIRC. Not need to go more aggressive than a white pad with cleansing lotions; you're not correcting.
