2 Bucket Wash vs. Foam Gun + Rinse Bucket
I've been using the 2 bucket wash technique, but was thinking about getting a foam gun. I saw a video online where the person started with the 2 bucket technique, but then used a technique where they fired the foam gun into the wash mitt as they washed. It seemed like the wash bucket was unneeded in this case. Any opinions on whether or not you even need a wash bucket if you use a foam gun like this?

It seems that now there are endless variations of
car-washing methods---I've heard them called:
"hybrid" car-washing methods.
IMO:
It boils down to what method each individual finds
works best for them. (Sometimes it even depends
on the area of the World in which they live.)

Isn't the point of the foam gun to get the car super foamy? If you're just foam gunning the mitt, that seems a waste of the foam gun's purpose.

By using this method, which I have, I will still foam the car and then use the technique mentioned above for the remainder of wash. Thus eliminating the use of the soap bucket.
It's the exact same soap/foam that would be in your bucket, so not sure where you see this is wasteful?

Interesting...
If the foam gun's purpose is to get a car super foamy,
then what exactly is the foam's purpose?

If I use a foam gun, I do not use a wash bucket, rinse bucket only.

The idea of the foam gun is to pre soak and loosen any dirt before the wash. Everyone does it a little different. My method.
1. Wheels/tires first
2. Rinse xterra with water
3. Foam up with the gun (gilmoure)
4. Wash with griots bucket filled with soap (same as gun)
5. Rinse
6 Flood rinse
7. Dry

+1. I use 2 rinse buckets, one on each side of the car. I use only as much soap in my gun to wash the vehicle but with an eye towards conserving as much soap as possible...simply a cost factor. Not stingy, just frugal.
And that's not saying that a squirt from the gun into the now clean mitt for the next section is wastefull, i just like knowing the paint is covered in soap that i'm going to clean. Basically, i like getting the surfactants working first before i wipe.

I guess I could clarify, in the video, they did foam the entire car. But after foaming it, as they wiped with the mitt they shot more foam in front of the mitt as they wiped.
I wasn't saying to just spray foam into the mitt and then wiping it on the car, although that would work too, but probably would be a waste of a foam gun.

Re: 2 Bucket Wash vs. Foam Gun + Rinse Bucket
I did this the other night, and i really didn't feel like it is something I would do again. I needed to do a quick wash and didn't have too dirty of a car (but too dirty for Rinseless or Waterless).
