Congrats. Pad washers really help during the midst of a detail to keep your pads clean. You also don't need as many pads since you can clean a re use pads.
Seeing as you asked about cleaning pads on the fly in a separate thread utilizing the 3401, I figured I would share a write up when cleaning pads with the 3401. Not that you didn't know already.

Re: Another big boy toy has arrived!
Thanks Mike. My next question was going to be how dry the pad needs to be before getting it back to work.
I don't have a rotary at the moment though.

Re: Another big boy toy has arrived!
For just spinning pads dry, I would pick up the cheapest thing you can buy. All you need is the centrifugal force. Heck it really only needs an on off switch.
Now if you are wanting to polish paint with a rotary, spend the extra coin for a PE14. I thought I would save myself the money by picking up the Dewalt 849x. I did save money but it didn't satisfy the want for the PE14 after I had used it with Mike Phillips at SEMA.

Thanks Mike. I researched the PE-14. Will get that when I'm ready. I want to get really proficient on a DA first. I believe only the really skilled should use rotary buffers

Re: Another big boy toy has arrived!
Sounds good. Within time and practice, you may start using a rotary.
If you haven't seen my article on the 3401, its worth a read. BTW, this method only works with DAT based polishes such as Menzerna.
