Re: Collinite 476S vs. Jetseal 109

Only CG product I used is Butter Wax, after learning more about company in general I didn't buy any of their products ever since.

Once a forum member sent me samples for free of 915/476/FK1000 I got myself full containers of 845 and 915.

Since that day I mix DG 601/105/845/915 for fall n' winter, DG 601/105/915 for spring n' summer, 915 looks awesome on metallic red.

I carry a hair comb in my shirt's pocket and use it before getting in the car.

Re: Collinite 476S vs. Jetseal 109

I haven't used 476s but I'll be happy to send you my 75% full bottle of JetSeal 109 if you're not convinced yet. I have 845 and 915, and I feel like a gullible idiot for buying anything else previously. It makes me sick to think I spent $38 on JetSeal 109.

The 915 is harder to apply, but it looks beautiful on very dark colors and sheds water like JetSeal never could. The 845 also looks beautiful but it's a little easier to apply. My only torment is 845 versus 915.

BTW: put it on your glass. I threw away my Rain-X after putting 845 on a windshield. The durability of Rain-X is less than 2 days, or up to 2 hours of rain. 915 is clearly #2 on glass behind 845, but I've thrown everything else away at this point.

I could have written this post myself as I had the exact same experience with all these products. At this point, I'm reserving the 915 for my Mustang and using the 845 on my wife's car an any other friends or family's car I take on. I love the look and feel of the 915, but you can't beat the 845 for ease and durability.

I bought more CG products than I care to admit when I first started getting deep in to this as a hobby. Most of them now sit half used although I think their shampoos are decent and I like the Hybrid V7 as a QD.

476 works, does what it say's and has great longevity. Priced right. I have no need to test another product.

You guys are confirming what I've been thinking....... that's that CG products are hit 'n miss, mostly miss. Too many SKUs and too many "new" products too often. I think I'd just as soon go to Advanced Auto and buy Meguiar's or Griot's Garage.

    please educate a newbie,

Collinite is an insulator "wax" and Jetseal is a "sealant", to be topped with a "wax". Isn't this comparison apples to oranges?

Collinite is a hybrid. It is a sealant that contains carnuba wax in it.
"Insulator" is just a name, like Billy Bob or "Jetseal. It doesn't describe what it really is.

FYI I am the OP, used the 476 about 4 months ago and it's still kicking ass. It's friggin bullet proof.

    Peace,

Re: Collinite 476S vs. Jetseal 109

I like Jetseal . I put on a coat last fall and the car was still beading water 6+ month later. That's about as long as I will go before applying another coat. It also works great on windows.

I haven't tried 476 but this summer I tried 915. After all the great reviews I had to give it a try. A couple months ago I had to deal with some nasty water spots on the hood and roof of my car. I decided to try the Collinite on the roof and Jetseal on the hood. Both were applied with a GG 6".

Ease of use. Jetseal is very easy to apply and remove. Being a relative newbie the first time I tried it I used way more product than necessary and it still buffed off very easily. The Collinite is a little tricky to use. I applied what I thought was a thin layer and really had to work at getting it off. The last time I used it I used a lot less 915 and put on a really thin layer and it buffed off fine.

Looks. My paint is black but it has a lot of metalflake which makes it hard for me to see much of a difference between the waxes and sealant I've tried. Both gave it a nice shine and can't say either was better.

Beading. The Jetseal beads water just fine but if you like tight little beads Collonite wins.
