CarPro Perl leaving gunk on tires
I purchased some CarPro Perl because it claimed pretty good durability and as I typically don't like dressing tires as I always have to jack the car up so as to apply a coat evenly around the whole tire, otherwise the uneven application bothers me.
Applied a layer of the Perl (undiluted) with a tire applicator sponge, then wiped down with a microfiber. Left a nice satin finish and wasn't overly glossy, which I really liked. The next day it rained. Everything washed off, and instead of there being bare tire, this crap was all over the tire:
Before I jump to conclusions and blame the product, is this something people have typically seen? Am I applying it incorrectly? The only review I found helpful mentioned having to layer it a few times on the tires to increase durability. But I mean, applied the day before, and washed off the following day in a rainstorm?? That's not durability if you ask me. I'm hesitant to even waste my time applying the Perl on trim and engine plastics if I'm going to run into the same mess.
Also, the picture above is what the tires looked like AFTER I had scrubbed them with an old washmitt and Meguiar's Gold Class wash soap. Is there anything that will completely clean the tires, they look brown/yellow and hideous. Also, any recommendations for a good tire dressing product that has some durability through rain/washes and isn't very glossy?

I don't think theres much that's gonna last after a rain accept a coating

Re: CarPro Perl leaving gunk on tires
It is water based but one rain seems kinda quick. The tire doesnt really look like it was cleaned real well. I usually use a brush instead of a mitt.
I put PERL on the FJ cruiser I did a couple weeks ago, I just saw the truck the other day (it hasnt rained yet) and the trim looked GREAT still.
Any time you decide you dont want that PERL you would probably have alot of outlets on here of people who would take it from ya! Including me

I think the rain washing it away has as much to do with how well the tire was cleaned, and therefore how we'll the product bonded to the tire. I put 2 coats of CG VRP, and 2 weeks later and a few rains it still looks great.
Also. I think the big review on here says it performs better 1:1

Absolutely!
We've had people talk about how much better Turtle Wax Endura tire coating is than this Perl product. I'm not really sure why anyone wants to use anything other than a tire coating, it's really a game changer!

I thought DP tire coating did a decent job of sticking around. I've really just been completely down on PERL as a dressing for tires. It seems to do a nice job on the trim along the jambs, etc. But, I think after it all I'm just going to go back to Pinnacle Black Onyx gel for tires.

I use PERL at 1:1 on my subie's tires. It will usually last at least a month until I notice it wearing off. The key though is thoroughly cleaning the tires first. I would recommend you clean your tires with Tuff Shine, DP tire cleaner or Omni Clean along with a brush.

I assume Tuf Shine and DP Tire Coating are similar to Endura, in the respect that they all contain a black Dye?
I can then understand in some cases, for those who have whitewall, or raised white lettering, these Dye Type Products will be problematic to near impossible to properly use.
Unless somebody now, or in the future makes a "Clear" Tire Coating?

Never had that issue with Perl.
