    Mercedes Sl 600

My son has been at it again and this time he kicked it up a notch. There will be significant consequences if we don't get it right. Today he brought home a SL600 V12 that has been in storage for some time. He asks "do you think you can help get this back into shape?" As any loving father would do, I agree. The following pics are before and a few highlights of what we have ahead of us.Today we gave it a good wash using optimum car wash 2bm w/ grit guard. Cleaned up the wheels and tires using ARO and topped tires with Perl 4:1. Hit the glass with megs window cleaner. A simple wipe down of the interior with a damp MF towel and a quick vacuum. Heck the floor mats still had the factory plastic wrap on 'em. As expected the Black finish was swirled with a few larger flaws. Baggy test was positive for clay necessary. The interior is spotless with the exception of scuff marks on driver side entry door, sill and seat base. I have a pretty good idea how I will approach the exterior finish. We will see what happens with the test spots. You will see a example of the worst of it, I think.

On the door pillar a hand polish w Menzerna 4500 handled that in a jiffy. I am thinking joy wash, WG clay, MZ4500 or WG Uber w/ grey or white LC flat pads, followed by WGDPS 3.0. With respect to the interior, the scuff marks have me baffled. I let some ARO dwell on a few areas and scrubbed with a soft brush., nothing, nada no better. any suggestions?

It is a family car. Will that make a difference in how we approach the detail?

Do a test spot on the hood with the SF 4500 and check your results. You may have to go with the Uber compound first though just judging from the looks of the paint in the photos.

I second that ^ used those to get off some transfered paint from another source that was on a customers truck and it worked wonders.
