Temporary Protection before CQUK?

I'm taking my car next week to have Xpel ultimate installed on the front end of my car. I'm in the middle of a paint correction right now, and I am planning on coating it with CQUK once the correction is finished.

Here's my dilemma:

It's cold and rainy here now (40-55F), and although I'm working in my garage, I would rather wait until it's a bit warmer to apply the CQUK. I know the UK is designed for lower temps, but still.

The Xpel installer is an hour away on the freeway, and I don't want to drive my car all the way there with freshly corrected paint and no wax/sealant. I also cannot be sure that it'll be dry on the day I take the car in, so I'm worried about the 7 day no water rule.

If I apply a regular spray wax or sealant to protect the paint until it gets warmer, will I have to re-polish the car before applying CQUK later? Or will a claybar and eraser be enough?

Right now I have a few options in my cabinet:

BMW express wax (spray, I got it at the Welt to protect the car during my ED trip)
Blackfire WDPP
Carpro Reload

I'd guess the spray wax would be the most temporary, therefore the best option for what I want.

Any thoughts?

Short answer. Yes if you use anything as temporary protection you will have to take it all back off. CQUK needs clean paint to bond properly.

Clay and eraser "might" be enough. But the only way to be sure is to re-polish. I would suggest something like the DP coating prep polish. It is made specifically to clean the paint and would do the job well. So then I would use the least durable product as protection.

Also my guess you clear bra guy will need to strip any protection for that to work as well.

You may not be faced with a dilemma after all.

•What compounds/polishes are you using for the
paint correction?
-They should leave plenty of "polishing oils" for just enough
protection, as well as allowing any wet-weather-events
to bead off of your vehicle, while going to and from
the XPel installer.


Then:
•Once you're vehicle's back home:
-That'll be the time for the vehicle's final prepping,
including Eraser-ing, for the CQUK application.

The safest route is to use finishing polish and coating prep.Do it once and right so you will get the best result from the coating.

Yes, I plan to leave the front end with no protection just for that reason. Now I'm considering just correcting the front end and waiting until the Xpel is done to do the rest.

Absolutely, I would want to be the last person touching my paint. You just don't know what goes on in a shop environment.
