Optimum Gloss Coat...Cloudy HELP
I just did about 7 hours worth of paint correction. Did IPA wipe down 2 times. Applied gloss coat. Went on easy.Knocked down high spots etc.. 2 hours later I see clouds all over the car. I have a black car and it shows like crazy. What did i do wrong? I am tempted to IPA everything off and throw gloss coat in the trash. Such a pain to see such hard work go into a car and u see clouds on top of perfection

How did you apply..
What type of ipa?
What polish before hand?
How did it look after application?
Never heard of this, have done dozens of GC applications

I used the applicator that came with it.
just regular store IPA diluted to about 20%
After application it looked good. When it sat after about 2 hours it looked like a blotchy cloudy mess

Re: Optimum Gloss Coat...Cloudy HELP
I'll venture that, for some reason:
•The Coating has become hydroscopic...
has absorbed some water/moisture.
1.)
Try misting the cloudy areas with a small amount of
a QD...and rebuff. This should remove the clouding.
If not:
2.)
In certain situations (high humidity, etc.) the Coating may not be drying...and then curing properly.
-One solution for this problem is to allow the car to bake in the sun for a day or so; and then rebuff. The heat of the sun will usually dry-out the excess moisture, and then: the buffing will bring out the shine.
Hope this will help.

Wow, I'm clueless, but it does remind me of that symptom in a different situation. Sometimes we get new cars with cloudy spots. The theory is that it's moisture under/in the clear coat. We have corrected it by warming the area with heat. Hair dryers, heat guns and heat lamps have all worked for us. This may be totally irrelevant. Good luck. Nathan

Car exposed to outside air? Have you hit the dew point for the evening?

Lots of good advice on here as always. I would probably just polish the coating off (IPA wont take it off) and do it over again after removing oils of course. The only thing i would change is your application process. The carpro applicator block with the small carpro suede micro towel around it works much better. Use that yellow thing they give you with it to do the rims.

I really wanted it to work so many good reviews but I have to say it did not work for me. I did the work in my garage temp and humidity seem normal. I did this one by the book but I'm guessing the book is much larger than I thought. If it is finicky with application there should be notes on the product.

Hmm, I haven't had this problem before. Can you show up some pictures?
Did you by any chance get the car wet after application?
How long did you wait before leveling high spots?

Dont give up on it the book isnt that big and its not a finicky application with the carpro applicator method. I bet if you do it over with the carpro applicator wrapped in a suede towel you will love it. You already did the hard work correcting the paint.
