    stock clear coated aluminum wheels

I m trying to find out how I can clean my neglected wheels from brake dust that is getting under the clear coat without having to remove and respray the wheels. They are 20" stock aluminum wheels off a '12 camaro. I bought it used and the previous owner didnt take care of them. I m trying to find out the best product to use and what I should do.

Use the link in the header above between "edit garage" and "new posts". The other ones don't seem to work right, or at least not for me. Plus there is also a max size or max pixels allowed. Would have to look it up but my guess is it is 800x800.

Some links that may help, click below

If the brake dust has only damaged the clear coat you should be able to clean it off and polish the clear back to a like new shine.

But if the clear has been removed all the way down to the aluminum then all the clear coat will have to be removed.

At that point there are three ways you can go.

Strip off all the remaining clear, polish the wheel until it is absolutely perfect and spray the wheels with clear.

Strip off all the remaining clear, polish the wheel until it is absolutely perfect then use a product like Seal Shine on it. It is not a clear coat. It is a bonding sealant that will keep the aluminum from corroding for at least three years.

Strip off the clear and paint the wheel. Or powder coat it.
