personally a short throw DA with a 5" black soft finishing pad at speed 2 no load.. spinning pad not so critical just for application, but with zero load it does a little..

I don't try to crowd the trim. Will do that by hand. And I'm just a weekend warrior. I just really enjoy driving clean vehicles. Ordered some speed HD from autogeek on this last sell. Can't wait to try it out
Re: How many of you use a MACHINE to WAX your vehicle?
Never tried it by a machine but looks like it could prove interesting results. Wish I could get my mittens on a gloss meter. I may try this two ways. 1. With my Rupes Big Foot then 2. With a 10,000 Random Orbital 3M Sander with only a 3/16 orbit or 3/32. From my 38 years in the abrasive business I do know that the smaller the orbit the finer the finish [ depth of scratch ]. That is with any grade of sandpaper. But I have never tried it with a high quality Wax. The back up pad plays another huge roll in sanding but may not with Wax polishing. Should be interesting.

Always...its much faster, more efficient and consistent. You can get better, more even coverage while typically using less product than you would by hand.
