Scuffs under bumper- lease
Hi all,
So I recently noticed on my wife's accord (lease...I know. Never again lol) that there's some pretty large scrapes. Nothing you'd notice until you later down under car.
Here's the worst one.
Two questions.
1. Would you recommend wet sanding to clean it up? I'm really just trying to make it look better not perfect. Any options are welcome.
2. Do you think we will be charged for excessive wear upon return?

I think you are through the paint down to the plastic there. Would need a repaint.
I've leased a lot of Honda's and I believe the wear and tear limit is $1,500, so they wouldn't charge you for that (probably about $400 to repair and repaint). And trust me, the 3rd party group that comes to meet you before turn-in doesn't look that closely either. Don't have the car clean when you do the inspection.
Many dealerships have lease loyalty programs too, so if you are going to lease another one upon turn-in, and you were over your wear and tear limit, they would likely waive it. My first lease was 6,000 miles over limit, but the dealer didn't charge me when I leased a new one, for lease loyalty.

Lol okay thanks that makes me feel better.
This is only like 7 months in out of 3 years, so its probably going to get worse than this. This only happened from going down a driveway that had a bump at the end.

You could be charged. On my Kia, every scratch under the bumper was added up and I was charged for 12 inches worth of scratches. If I got another Kia, the fee would have been waived. It also varies by manufacturer. BMW and I guess Kia are strict.

You should not be charged. And if they even try charging fight that. I've leased my last few vehicles nothing close to that was charged.

Re: Scuffs under bumper- lease
Thanks guys. It's tough to see but the top part of it is white scratch line. Might try to work with that one a bit with some touch up paint just to fill and make less obvious when looking down there.
The lower part is grey/black so I'm not gonna bother with that stuff.

You still have 2+ more years left on the lease. I wouldn't worry until you get 3-4 months out from turning it in and buying the next one.
