It seems that it can happen with any coating that provides any thickness
I had it happen in a couple of places on the roof of my SUV that I couldn't see very well during application of CQuartz UK

since these white streaks easily wiped off with a cloth I doubt that they are high spots that needs polishing and reapplication.

Here are pictures I took of the streaks on the car. I saw his car yesterday after we've had some snow and wet roads and the streaks are worse than these which leads me to believe it is from the nasty road conditions as of late.

It looks like traffic film. On coatings with self cleaning properties you will see lines like this where some areas are clean and some are dirtier. I believe this happens when water beads pull dirt from the surface and are blown off the panel. If the vehicle was not protected the entire hood would be covered in the same type of road grime.

happens on our cars wih PNS. It's just the path the water is taking on its way off the car.
It's all in the details
