    Paint Booth

Has anyone ever detailed a vehicle in a paint booth? Just wondering, seems like some would be perfect for the task, since you get a downdraft to keep the air clean. I am not sure I would wash one in the booth, but polishing and coatings would be nice. Also if it has a heat system, you could turn it on to cure the coatings out faster.

    Thoughts?

I wondered that myself.......seems a paint booth would be the ultimate place for applying coatings.......working clean.

    Re: Paint Booth

Actually have plans to section off a part of my shop and making a pseudo paintbooth/clean detailing area (A/C and heat, humidity control, lights on the walls and 4 post lift). I call it a pseudo paintbooth because it won't have the downdraft ventilation or the heat lamps on the wall. I will still depend on my trusty mobile IR lamps.

I bet a painter would kick you firmly in the groin, if he caught you getting compound dust all over his paint booth

I agree, the chance of contamination would be very high to get fish eyes, wrinkling etc.

I think it'd be kind of cool. To have that sort of a sterile environment to do your work in!

Fellas, I am leaning more toward what Dr.Pain is talking about. Im not talking about using someone elses, Im talking about having my own for th purpose of doing exactly what Dr. Pain stated. Basically a clean room with temperature control and lights, and possible curing ability.

There are a whole bunch of inflatable/portable spray booths available...with umpteen zillion configurations and accessories for personalization requirements.

    Here's one example:

Hey Hump..... FEAST your eyes on this!!!! This is my inspiration, although I will never go that far in the construction. It has T5's, single diode LEDs AND heaters to bake coatings (or cupcakes if you want LOL!). It has small fan to ventilate and some AC vent (from the look of it)
