Optimum polish II vs finishing polish

I bought meguiars compound and polish when I first started. Then I switched to optimum cause it didn't dust as much. I'm to new to this to tell the difference. So I'll Ask you guys, does a finishing polish make that much of a difference compared to just a polish like optimum polish II? All of our cars are in good shape so what do you use when you go over the car once or twice a year

The Finish polish is for jeweling or for really soft paint...particularly if your car is light colored the Polish should be fine. Or try the Hyper Polish if you're buying something.

Re: Optimum polish II vs finishing polish

Many people will find that Optimum Polish II finishes-out
to their expectations, and are satisfied at that point.

Others may want to take the paint as far as they can:
Trying to squeeze out some extra smoothness/gloss.

That "jeweling" may well be acheived by use of a finishing polish like Optimum's...or maybe by using one of Meguiar's, Menzerna's, 3M's, etc.

Unless your paint is really soft, no.

I have used Optimum II with great success even on a 2000 sable heavily swirled, it did not get all the swirls out but the customer loved it and knew what my expectations would be, she agreed and it was a car that sits outside 24/7

The Optimum 3 step system gives (Optimum results). The pads make the difference and also control how much paint you remove. Always do test spot and you won't go wrong.
