Detailing scam

About a week ago this guy offered to clear and restore my headlights for free and if I liked them he would charge me, I agreed and it looked good. And then he continued saying he could fix the oxidation/clear coat on my roof so I told him how much he would charge and he said $60 for the whole car. Only thing was he would fix it but I would have to wash my car every other week and it would last for two years. I agreed and I looked good but a week later after I washed it it went back go how it was and I want to know what he used. It was always wet-like and dead insects would always get stuck to it...

Tl;dr version: I got scammed and I want to know what the guy used to make my oxidation/clearcoat shine. It looked really good even though it cost me $60 and good lesson.

The guy probably put a glaze over it. You cannot fix your oxidation without repainting the car.

Looks like a suspect mixture (some sort of glaze mixed with something else that would wash off straight away in the first wash) I think he told you wash it every other week so that would give him enough time to get away.

I'm guessing it was something like wd-40, or some other off the shelf oily substance. Especially since you're saying it was always wet and sticky. Who knows, I mean motor oil would remain shiny until you washed it off too. I doubt it was any sort of real car-care product.

I came home to my neighbor applying bug spray to her car, she said she read about it online. It looked exactly the same, it made the headlights look pretty good for a day.

I was thinking the same thing. Unfortunately, it appears the roof is beyond any help and a respray is your only option.

He used a glaze.

Maybe he used "wipe new".

Even perhaps something with a high silicone content, makes it shine, makes it sticky, covers up all the places like where there was LITERALLY NO clear coat there on the "C" pillar.

So should I use wd40 or glaze. I can't afford a paint job considering it runs like $500...
