Polish or wax excess on plastic?
I know it use to be that you couldn't get polish or wax on the plastic trim. I have another thread going about picking the right products and it made me think of this.
Does everyone tape off or are there brands that are safe if they get on the plastic. It's hard enough to find time to doo all the car care so less steps is a bonus for me

I am not sure you will really notice wax (especially those that turn white if it piles up such as some cleaner waxes). that has not hazed in a video like this.

What about dust ?I see that more of an issue than wax and polish getting on plastic.

polish? if there is any chance of the plastic or trim getting hit with the pad, tape it off.
for wax...there are countless waxes that are not only safe for trim and plastic but recommended to protect them. Optimum Car Wax (spray) is ideal if you want such a thing. there are tons of products out there that work well.
a sealant is even better though, imo. Opti-Seal is trim safe and so easy to apply it's almost scary.

Re: Polish or wax excess on plastic?
If you dress the trim before polishing, removing polish from trim is easier. However, tape won't stick as well to dressed trim. A toothbrush and apc works well to remove polish and wax.
It would be nice to have a black polish; it wouldn't matter as much if you got some on the trim.
