It kind of depends on the make/model and color. Most of the time it's worth buying a bottle from the dealership. I prefer the bottles with the brush. Paint pens are hard to finesse unless your doing a big spot or door jamb edge. What's the color?
Dr. Colorchip. Very easy to use and passed the 5ft test.
On my wife's tri-coat Cadillac, it was more of a ~8ft test it passed. Tinted primers are very difficult to cover up. Dr. Colorchip even makes sign a waiver acknowledging it would be a perfect match for tricoats.
90% of the time I have paint mixed at the local auto body supply store. Single stage is usually about $10 and gives you enough to last a lifetime for future jobs. Forget the old touch up brush bottles. They dont last very long.
