I have several grades of natural and synthetic clay and use each one for different scenarios. It's good too have options so you can apply the correct tool for your desired results.
Re: What type of clay system do you use, regular clay bar, fine clay bar, nanoskin claybar style handmit?
I've always used the Meguiars OTC clay with great success. I now have a Nanoskin fine (blue) sponge that I'll be trying out this fall. I'm curious to to see how it stacks up. My vehicles are all in good shape, so it should work fine.
It has marred every paint I have used it on, easily fixed with polish but clay is better if no polish
I have also experienced excessive marring from the Nanoskin fine mitt w/ ONR clay lube. I have heard if you use the Nanoskin lube it eliminates the marring completely... I haven't tried it yet though.

question, I'm looking at clay alternatives and I came across Carpro's Polyshave Decon Towel. I'm wondering if anyone here has used it and the Nanoskin one and can compare them? It's considerably cheaper but I can't find much information on it.

I'm still using regular clay, and I have to admit that I cannot wait to try the Nanoskin alternative clay product to try out. After spending a few summers in the rail ridden Chicagoland, these cars are absolutely trashed with contamination. And it does take me a long time to get the paint to a level that I feel comfortable compounding and polishing afterwards. Iron-x is another product that I have yet to experiment with, and the more time I spend claying with generic clay bars, the more time I long to finally test the Iron-x and Nanoskin products out.
