Cleaning glass with paint polish
I have Wolfgang uber and fine grade polish. I'm wondering if using either product with a flex will sufficiently clean the windshield in preparation for a glass sealant like gtechniq g1?
Thanks

Over 200 views but no comments? Is this a bad idea? Just looking for a simple yes or no really. Thanks

Re: Cleaning glass with paint polish
I'm not sure if its a bad idea, but ive done this on several friends/family daily drivers. I used Megs Ultimate Polish on a Blue CCS pad. Worked well, but honestly, it didnt seem all that much better than using Stoner, followed by Eagle 20/20 (on the outside only)

Re: Cleaning glass with paint polish
I personally would only use products designed for glass to polish glass. Not sure the abrasive quality of paint polish is the same as those with glass. DP makes a nice product, Glass Restorer. CarPro offers one also ...

OK thanks, just needed some confirmation from others that it wont kill the glass. I'll test it out on the rear window and follow up with my results.

Re: Cleaning glass with paint polish
I wouldn't use paint polish. Like stated above you may have different abrasives in the paint polish and you may have different polish lubricating oils left over on the glass. Not worth it in my opinion. Wipe glass clean, clay or Nanoskin then use a dedicated glass polish.

I've used Pinnacle Water Spot remover for glass with alot of success, but I've also used Poorboys Pro Polish 2 and have never had any problems and it really gets out water spots. It may not be a good idea, but I've used it alot.

Poorboys Pro Polish has worked for me on the windshield with very good results.
I would think Glass Polish would be more abrasive than a polish.

Re: Cleaning glass with paint polish
I just put Pinnacle black label glass coating on the windshield of my impala today. I used Detailers Pride Prep polish. Went on easy, came off easy. Then applied the coating and boom. Windshield turned out perfect. The other day i also used Autoglym All in one to clean a friends windshield as i didn't have my polish yet. Worked equally as good and the water still beads to her standards. I guess it depends on how picky you want to be. Also like to mention i tried the wipers and they didn't smear
