Need to Remove Minor Scratches by Hand

My son's dog got in the garage and I guess wanted to go for a ride in the truck. He pawed a couple of small places I need to work on. Could I use something like Blackfire Scratch Resistant Clear Finishing Polish on those places?

I'm not familiar with the product you listed. If you must work by hand just be sure to use a product that specifically lists that it is intended to be used by hand. Some compounds use rough/jagged abrasives that only break down with sufficient friction provided by a machine polisher. Using such a "machine only" compound will produce an even worse finish if used by hand. Usually the product bottle will list what methods are acceptable for use.

It says it can be used by hand. Here's the link - http://www.autogeek.net/blackfire-sr...ng-polish.html Was just curious if that was the best route to go since I'm not familiar with polishes.

Those look like very minor scratches. A compound and polish would get the job done.

Do you think the same product will work on scratches like these? Thanks.

I doubt the Blackfire SRC Finishing Polish would work very well as it's a fine cut polish.

The Blackfire SRC Compound would however and it's safe to use by hand on delicate, scratch-sensitive clearcoats. Use foam to avoid any toweling scratches.

For more serious scratches START with a microfiber applicator pad and then re-do with foam as any type of FIBER pad will give you more cutting or abrading ability but it can and will also leave it's own type of mark. Redoing with foam will remove the individual fibers from the process and remove any toweling marks.

    Make sense?

Also, your rub hard and fast as clearcoats are hard. You don't remove scratches and scuffs out of clearcoat paint by applying product like you would a skin lotion to your face.

    Hope that helps....

Polishing paint is an art form.... not a grinding process.....

Not the polish but the compound and start with a fiber pad and then switch to a foam pad then wax.

It looks like the scratches you posted in the photos are in the clear film. In which case the easiest (and most aesthetically pleasing) route will be to remove/replace the film.
