New ZL1 on its way, wanted to see if this is a good start
I want to start with a good base on this car I ordered, here is what I had planned;
Iron-x
Clay if necessary
Klasse AIO polish
Klasse high gloss sealant glaze
Pinnacle Souveran paste wax
Pinnacle crystal mist carnauba detail spray
Basically iron-x plus the forum favorite kit from AG.net
Please let me know your thoughts.
All will be applied by hand unless it is a mistake to do so. I am ok with the extra work doing it by hand. I am not comfortable using a DA and I don't want to learn at this point.

Your process/items you brought looks good to me, its always a good idea to clay the paintwork even if it don't feel like its needed, the "baggie test" will most of the time show you that your paint does need it, though remember when your ready to leap into machine detailing we are all here to help, lastly what kind of soap will you be using j/w

I may try to sway you this way...money may be a factor for you I dont know
1. Iron-X $20
2. Nanoskin Autoscrub sponge fine grade $13
3. Duragloss 501 $13
4. Duragloss Enviroshield Coating $45
Total just under $100 and you will have a killer set up on your new ZL1

I'm sure it would need clay anyways or I would have done it anyways.
I was going to use dawn for this initial wash but I don't know what to use on a regular basis. Any suggestions?

We all forget something, and begin in place autogeek filled with all sorts of car detailing information your bound to lose track once in a while, as for your question you could use chemical guys citrus wash and clear as a stripping , and maintenance wash soap or you could use duragloss 901 and for your stripping process just wash, and clay the vehicle then after those steps wipe the paintwork down with apc(all purpose cleaner) or rubbing alcohol to remove any left over LSP

What color is it? And you defintely want a da, you can't achieve the same reuslts by hand and you'll kill yourself doing it and it will take you much , much longer by hand. Mike P has done may write ups on this.
Congrats on the new ride!
