cleaning a Jeep soft top?
Hi guys, been a while since I posted here, but I'm back with a couple questions. I just picked up a used soft top for my Jeep. As best I can tell it's either cloth or a coated cloth (cloth texture outside, inside is definitely cloth). I'm wondering what I should be using to clean it with first, and then also a protect for it after that. It's got some age on it so I know it's not going to be perfect, but the inside which is normally white is a dingy brown/gray from either storage/use/both and the outside is definitely very dusty from storage.
I'm guessing I'll have to buy something new for a protectant. I have some 303 the flavor that goes on plastic trim although it's about empty. As far as cleaning though I've heard various things around the net like mild dish soap, water, and a soft brush. I also have a large gallon bottle of OPC though and was thinking maybe that might be a better choice? Not sure though. Thoughts? I'm assuming I shouldn't use something like the spray version of WG DGPS that I have since the top is not paint, but I was thinking about it for a second lol.

Look into raggtopp products.

I would say get some raggtop and then spray it with some GTechniq smart fabric

Vaccuum it first and then once you have finished vacuuming, apply sparing amounts of your car upholstery cleaner as directed on the packaging. I personally use Comma Interior Cleaner.

Re: cleaning a Jeep soft top?
Thanks guys. Question, can I use the raggtopp cleaner on the inside as well? If not, any suggestions for that? Also, anyone know if a 2007 Jeep top is fabric or vinyl? When I think vinyl I think fake leather, but the top is fabric with a vinyl coating (I believe). So I think I should order the vinyl kit but I'm not 100% sure.

Yes. Order the vinyl kit. Ragtopp worth every single penny. You'll only need one good cleaning and protectant. I cleaned mine with a bunched up micro fibre cloth and scrubbed the cleaner in. Don't use harsh scrubber. Do it on a cloudy day or in the shade. Spray cleaner on it sections. Rinse it off and let dry. Spray the protectant and sort of buff it. It looks like milk lol. If you clean it really well the protectant will last all summer. If you get a lot of mud dried on it than you may have to do it again. My application lasted all summer .
