Looking for an economical trip protectant that doesn't drool

Last night while washing cars I noticed the Meguiars Ultimate Protectant I'd used on my exterior rubber trim and plastic was drooling onto the paint and glass in places leaving some ugly discoloration spots. I'm also not terribly impressed by it's longevity, which can be measured in days.

Without going into the high dollar stuff made of unicorn tears, is there anything with modest longevity that won't bleed off the surface it's been applied?

Right now I'm considering the following products based on price, feedback, and company reputation. I don't mind applying product every week or two when doing maintenance washes.

Comments/feedback are welcome. I'll consider other products too if they are in the same relative price per volume range. I've used 303 Aerospace in the past, and while I love it on interior's I've had similar results on the exterior.

Save up and buy Carpro DLUX.

The time and energy you save; combined with the fantastic appearance and durability of the product is well worth the price. A little goes a long, long way.

I use Chemical Guys Silk Shine Dressing Protectant on tires, and it lasts much longer than other dressings, and looks great. For some reason, I'm devoting that to tires.

I use 303 Aerospace Protectant on gaskets and moldings, and if they need the black back, I've had good success with Solution Finish. Wait a few days, and apply the 303 or Silk Shine as a topper.

I agree, the Megs product looks great but doesn't last. Sounds familiar.

How much are you applying? I found 303 to be quite good on exterior as well and don't have any running issues. But I apply it in gross moderation. A little goes a long way. If the pad is wet or damp, I keep rubbing new trim areas to use it all up till the pad is dry.

I don't use much of the 303 and always buff it out after application. My biggest complaint with the 303 isn't so much it running onto the paint, but after one rain it's totally gone. In a dry environment, it only seems to be there for a few days and all the trim looks dry and untreated again.
