Re: Using Meguiars Wheel Brightener to decontaminate Rail Dust?
I've used Meguiar's Wheel Brightener quite a lot on the test panel against a variety of fresh LSP's and have been surprised of how well many of them have held up. I've done a few acid baths over the years (carefully) on paint that had ungodly water spotting damage with acids much stronger than Wheel Brightener, which helped in those situations. Might have been Car Brite Wheel Acid, it's been over a decade. Used carefully it can be the right tool for the job.

Just one of the reasons that makes HF so dangerous
to humans, is its corrosiveness to bones. (It has little
to do with whether the acid is weak, or strong, as
measured on the pH Scale.)

•To add a couple of personal caveats:
-Along with using with the “right” PPE.
-And having some of this on hand:

It’s a good thing I spray it on my wheels and not my bones... Btw what percentage of HF is in a 32oz. bottle of Wheel Brightener diluted @4:1?
What chemical is in Megs Non Acid Wheel & Tire cleaner that makes it so hazardous?
Why does the non acid wheel cleaner get such as pass when it comes to fear mongering when in reality it’s just as hazardous as the acid based wheel cleaner?

Re: Using Meguiars Wheel Brightener to decontaminate Rail Dust?
Ammonium bifluoride (also referred to as ABF) is in D140.
The truth about ABF | KO Manufacturing
At 4:1 there is still plenty in there to cause you great harm.
Wear PPE (gloves, respirator, goggles) and you'll likely be just fine.
Oops you were asking about D143. Anything high pH can be dangerous if used incorrectly.
