steam cleaning
Hello,
For those that use steam to clean carpets and seats, what is your process? From what I gathered it seems like you pretreat, steam, then vac? Also what hp vac is sufficient and what attachments are you using?
Thanks
Matt

Re: steam cleaning
I use the VX5000, I use 1Z Deep plastic cleaner as a pre-treat on the doors and other areas that need it. On the carpet, I pre-treat with Megs APC Diluted 10:1, let it soak in and then I take the wand with the big triangle brush and a white terry towel and go over the carpet with the steam, switching out towels as necessary. I usually go back with the vac after that to fluff the carpet.
On the doors, dash and wheel, I use the wand by itself, and a microfiber towel to wipe any excess moisture.
I love mine.

Re: steam cleaning
Seat process (leather):
-Initial vacuum and wipe
-Steam and work one section at a time with a microfiber wrapped over the steam head
-Spray soft interior brush with cleaner and massage into area
-Massage with stiffer brush to remove heavier stains (avoid on weathered leather)
-Steam again to release cleaner/dirt
-Wipe clean
Floors/Fabric seats (I only use steam for spot cleaning, if its bad I use an extractor)
-initial vacuum
-steam
-spray fabric cleaner onto area
-brush with rug brush
-steam
-blot/wipe
-vacuum to pull loose dirt
Vacuum doesnt have to be anything special. Youre not trying to pull out ingrained dirt; brushes and cleaner should do that. Youre just trying to grab what you loosened.

I do 1 step extraction/vacuuming. Works great

Re: steam cleaning
Ok I have to try putting a towel over the head of the wand. I think that might of been why I had so much water on the carpets. I was trying to extract the excess with a wet/dry vac but wasn't having much luck. Where can I get the triangle brush attachment?
