I think this needs to be clayed

Just completed a good thorough two bucket wash on this Alpine White E92 BMW. You can see where the clear bra was before, and how badly this car needs to be clayed. I've got my work cut out for me. BMW - Imgur

That's a 50/50 after PC with pass with orange pad and WG Swirl remover. I previously did a pass with White pad and swirl remover but there was still some water marks in the paint.

The 50/50 pic show great progress, as for water spots you may have to get a stronger polish like meguiars m105, or water spot remover to take out the water spots

I have some meguiars Ultimate Compound as well. I just had the WG sitting around so I wanted to give it a try. I knew that the UC is more aggressive than the WG and wanted to try the least aggressive method first. I think before I go any further though, I'm going to get IronX and NanoSkin Wash Mitt. http://i.imgur.com/ToPAFis.jpg That's my Clay after a quarter of the hood. It'll take me forever to do the whole car, and use a lot of clay. LOL

That is a lot of contamination taken off by just clay barring, and your method of thinking is correct use the least aggressive, and work your way up now that you still have some defects(water spots) use the ultimate compound to hopefully remove those defects
