It isn't possible that I missed this for a whole year...

I just can't see how this could be possible. I've owned this vehicle for a year and I've never ever seen this drip. This is on the driver side on the edge of the rear bumper.

I have no idea where that came from. It doens't just flick off though. At first I thought it was just a drip from being washed, but it didn't wipe off and I looked closer. Sap maybe? Nope. It is dripped paint. How could I possibly not notice this for a whole year??? It is so obvious from even a distance. I can't have missed it. I assumed the rear bumper had been repainted when I noticed paint over the tops of the screws on the inside of the fender, but that is the only indication of a repaint. Wherever it was done they did an excellent job. This drip was definitely not there a year ago, or even a month ago.

At the very top edge of the bumper I can see where the drip originated it looks like.

You can see a bit of a trail all the way down to the halfway point where this drip is at right now. It is hard and set, so I have no idea where it came from. There is just no way that I missed this drip for a year and am now just noticing it. It stands out a mile away. I'm obsessive enough about this sort of thing that I just couldn't have not seen it.

Any ideas on how this could have happened more than a year after the panel was painted? I'm at a total loss. There is just no way that I've missed seeing this with as many times as I have polished and waxed this truck in the last year.

I bought it used. It's an '03 that I bought last year.

Now that I have thought about it, I noticed the drip within the week that my car had been in the dealership having some warranty work. They did my safety inspection as well and would have had reason to take the wheels off. I suppose they could have done something to it and then tried to cover it up. If they did this to my vehicle and didn't tell me about it, then there is going to be a big problem. I know where I'll be tomorrow...

Man, I hope it wasn't the dealership, but who knows. It's messed up how dealerships are.

When I look closely it looks like the corner of the bumper got nicked with something and they put a dab of touch up paint on it that ran down the edge of the bumper. Who else would have access to perfect matching paint like this? I'm getting more and more sure that it was the dealership now.

Man. I hate when dealerships try to hide things.

Same here! We get some Bimmers from the auction that I know were purposely goobered up to get them thru. It just makes my work harder and I wish they would just leave the damaged area alone.

It's an '03 Honda Pilot. The tires on it right now are Yokohama something or others. I'd have to look to see for sure. I just bought them a couple weeks ago before a long road trip out to California. I love my Pilot.
