Question regarding rock chip on hood. Help!

had to bring the audi in for scheduled maintenance and noticed a small rock chip on the hood--it raised the paint and clear coat slightly like a tiny meteor hitting the earth. the manager wanted to put a drop of clear coat on it to prevent any additional marring. wondering if this is the right way to go or find someone with a pc to smooth it down...

after reading all the posts in here, i'm not terribly confident this is the way to go.

    thanks for the assistance--as always

Have the dealer order you the proper touch-up paint for your Audi. Here's Toto's thread that I follow http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/...p-filling.html.

Fill in the chip with touch up paint getting it over the egdes
let it dry for a day wet sand with 1500 then 2000
buff it out good as new, up to you if you want to clear it or not
I have done this on mine and worked out good, also just got
the blob kit that AG sells works good but not for laquer...

The way i would do it is use a special automotive filler(you can buy some from any autoparts store) to fill the chip in, then i would let it cure, sand the filler down below the surface of the surrounding paint(spot sanding tool) follow with a drop of paint, let that cure, sand it down below the level of the surrounding clear (just a little bit) polish it using a PC(finnishing polish) then clean the spot add a drop of clear coat, let that cure, then sand that down to the level of the surrounding clear coat(try not to sand it down below the level of the surrounding clear) then polish that area with a finishing polish.

Langka has worked for me. I actually used it for the 1st time a couple weeks ago and the chips disappeared right in front of me. Just left some light scratches, polished away, and couldn't see the chip at all.
