Finally got to use my Flex

So I finally got to use my new Flex and I'm very happy with it.

I do have some questions though.

I'm wondering how much pressure to use when polishing?
When I put a little bit of pressure it feels very controllable but when I put a bit more it seems like its kinda wobbly and my arms would tire faster.

Also for D151 how much product to use after priming and how many passes? At first I was using alot but then started only using 3 tiny pea sizes.

Btw I was using an orange 5" hybrid pad. Thanks

    Congrats on the Flex purchase.

Pressure will always vary but it will be identical as using a DA. Moderate to heavy pressure for compounding and light to moderate for polishing or using an AIO.

Remember you have to keep this machine absolutely flat to the surface to keep from wobbling. Since you are using the 5" inch pad size and are experiencing wobbling you are not holding the machine flat to the surface. It may take some time to get used to the characteristics but don't give up hope.

Yeah after doing about half of my truck I became very comfortable with the flex. I also found it helpful to hold it at 9 & 3 o'clock when doing side panels instead of 12 and 6. I also believe its gets a little wobbly because hybrid pads seems stiff.

It might sound odd, but sometimes when you think you're holding it flat you aren't. Have somebody watch you for a while. They can tell you if you get angled, then you'll have a feel for the machine. Once you master it, you'll never look back

The 3401 is a fantastic machine. Used it to do a black Honda ridge line. Used menzerna pf2500 with lc hybrid 5" blue light cutting pad for step one and second step with lc yellow light polishing pad with car pro reflect.

Re: Finally got to use my Flex

If you think you wobble with the 5 inch pad just try a 6 incher. It's pretty horrible for a while.

9-14 pounds of pressure. Maybe a little more for heavy compounding, but I tend to just do another section pass on that area and work it twice instead of adding pressure. I'm also fairly new to the Flex3401 (Used it on 3 full vehicles and about an hour of touch up work on other cars)

Never used 151, but I can tell you that with almost all of the products less is more. 3 pea side drops should be good, then work it until it's opaque. Assuming it's like other polishes.
