SF4500 can't be used in a DA though right?

    Says who?

SF4500 is a fantastic finishing polish when used with a DA.

I personally have FG400, PF2500, and SF4500... All have their place in my arsenal.

Are you guys having no issues going from fg400 to sf4500? That seems like a steep jump.

It really depends on the type of paint you are working with and what pads you are using with FG400.

I tend to prefer to use FG400 with foam pads... most commonly the LC orange light cutting pad. If you work FG400 long enough to allow it to fully break down then it will finish with very little haze, even on softer paint like BMW Jet Black. Following up with SF4500 and a white or black pad is the perfect finishing step in this instance.

If you are experiencing more severe hazing, SF4500 may be too mild to fully refine the haze, and you may need something like PF2500 or SF4000.

This (not so good) video was taken when correcting a Jet Black Toyota Avalon... very soft paint. The first 50/50 (left vs. right) shows the right side that has not been corrected vs. the left side that was compounded with FG400 on an orange pad and then polished with SF4500 on a white pad. The second 50/50 (top vs. bottom) shows the top side that was ONLY compounded vs. the bottom that was compounded and polished. You will notice the top portion is slightly "less black" than the bottom which indicates the haze remaining from the compounding. Best viewed on a full screen monitor in HD.

... as always, the test spots are key.

    Re: Menzerna

I sometimes find that SF4500 does not have enough pull to clear up the paint after FG400. In most of my correction work I always chase FG400 with SF4000 to guarantee being able to clear up what FG400 may not have. This has always given me the results I need even on both of my Jet Black 3 series.

Now SF4500 will add more to the paint after SF4000 if you are chasing every last ounce of gloss.

I don't have SF4000, or else I'd have given it a shot, but what I have found that works really well is using Sf4500 with a firmer pad (ie a white polishing pad) instead of a soft fine finishing pad. These firmer pads add a bit more cut, obviously, and also help the polish break down easier.... the end result may be the same as say Sf4000 on a black finishing pad? Again, I've never used it so I can't say from experience.

My experience on the 3401 has always been FG400 and orange hybrid and SF4000 on a white hybrid. This combo has always worked no matter what situation or paint. Of course SF4500 on the black hybrid takes things further but added more time and effort.

Never really changed pads and polish to achieve similar results as I always had this combo available.

I'm sure now with the new yellow hybrid light polishing pad and SF4000 would close the gap between white/4000 and black/4500

    Re: Menzerna

Try carpro reflect in place of 4500...I Love menz and I love 4500 but it takes a long time to fully work over and it takes a lot to wipe off. Reflect gives the gloss that 4500 gives and works quick and wipes off great!!
