Re: tiny spots on my hood
I've seen bird crap etch paint and leave spots exactly like that before.
Edit to clarify my statement: I worked on a white car recently that gets bird crap on it all the time and the owner neglects it. After polishing, there were spots remaining similar to what your picture shows and those spots were only present where bird crap was sitting for a long time.

My apologies, best pics I could get at the time.
The spots are what appear to be "flakes" in the paint giving off almost a glitter reflection.
They can be well seen around the area of the light bulb reflecting in the paint. I'm hoping to pick up a brinkmann xenon light soon, haven't been too impressed with the reviews on the LED version.
Thanks for the reply!

For now you can try your cell phone light. I used my iPhone light and it worked well. Not sure which phone you have available?

It looks like solvent pop, but I'm gonna say really small pits, or chips. I've seen lots of cars from sandy areas that look like this.
My wife recently went to Panama city, and noticed this same defect when she came back 8 weeks later.

Tried my cell phone light (droid X2) tried my 5th gen ipod touch, and tried one of my tactical LED flashlights, unfortunately none of them really helped with making the defects any brighter or more apparent. I'll break out my regular camera tomorrow and try taking some pictures when I get home from work (hopefully in sunlight).

Not to my knowledge, we purchased it about three years ago, had it professionally detailed a week after we bought it, and then it was ran through a car wash most of it's time we've had it. I've since realized the error my ways and switched to the two bucket method with grit guards and two separate wash mits for the top and bottom half of the car.
I also noticed a few of these in my motorcycle's finish while I was outside (I gave it the same process a few weeks after doing the wifes car). I know for certain these were not there before I did the work on it. Could it be something I did with the PC7424XP?
