Faded Rubber Bumpers - Made a Mess

I have a 1990 Camry that I just gave the Klasse AIO treatment. The black bumpers are faded so I tried something call Natural 2001 made by turtle wax (it's what I found on the shelf). When I put it on, let it dry, then rubbed it, it looked it's old faded self. So I put some of the 2001 on and left it alone. The rubber look shiny and new, so I left it overnight.
This afternoon there are now 'bleeding streaks', (looks like the overnight dew ran down the bumper,) and the bumpers are back to faded. The surface of the bumper is quick slick but they look horrible now. I'd take back the just old and faded!
I'm guessing I did something I shouldn't have. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to remove those bleeding light streaks? And what I can use to help the faded bumpers look better if I can restore them to the way they were 2 days ago.

    Thanks

Use and all purpose cleaner to remove the streaking and to clean up the bumpers.

You will need something like Wolfgang trim sealant or ultima trim and tire gel to keep the plastic looking good for a long time (6 months). Anything OTC will just be a dressing that will end of coming off within a day or a few weeks.

I would try an IPA wipedown on it and see if it removes the material. Then if you want really good renew product for bumpers try this:
Meguiars Ultimate Black, trim restorer, trim protectant, plastic restorer

When you say all purpose cleaner do you mean something like Windex Glass and Multipurpose Cleaner?

Sorry, but I don't know what "IPA" means.

I looked at the Meguiars you mention and it says it's for plastic or vinyl. My bumpers are black rubber. I found this Chemical Guys G6 Hyper Coat Rubber, Vinyl & Plastic Treatment, do you know if this is any good? Am I right to assume that nothing is going to restore the deep rich shiny black like when they were new?

APC is All Purpose Cleaner. If you want something you can go pick-up tomorrow, there are lots of brands available at Home Depot. ZEP, Simple Green, etceteras. Opinions vary on which ones are best. If you can wait and it's in the budget; Optimum Power Clean is my personal favorite.

Don't use Windex on your car. It dries out rubber.

IPA is isopropyl alcohol. Most families have some under a bathroom sink somewhere. It is generally used to strip waxy, greasy, oily substances from paint and trim.

My favorite long lasting protectant for black plastic trim is CarPro DLUX. It lasts a long time (months) and will darken the plastic effectively. If the trim is really faded, you may want to try a dye. I have not used this type of product before, but a search of the forum will give you a ton of information.

    Good Luck

You mean you actually painted the rubber bumper?
