Lake Country Hybrid or Hydro-Tech Foam Pads?

I was looking into getting some new pads and trying to decide between the LC Hybrid or Hydro-Tech pads. From what I've read so far in the forum is that most prefer the Hydro-Tech pads.

I have both and prefer the hydro tech pads on my flex. I prefer the hybrid flat pads on my Griots.

If you're using a FLEX XC3401, the Hybrid pads are a better choice in my experience. They were actually designed for the 3401.

5" Hybrid Pads + 4" backing plate from Changeable Backing Plate System = smooth polishing.

I equipped a 3401 with the 4" backing plate from the Changeable Backing Plate System, slapped on a 5" Hybrid Power Finish White Polishing Pad and didn't waste any time.

The 5" Lake Country Hybrid Power Finish Foam Pads are self-centering on the 4" backing plate from the Changeable Backing Plate System.

The Flex XC3401 equipped with a 5" Hybrid Power Finish White Polishing Pad can only be described as heavenly. There was much concern as to how well the 3401 would handle such a small pad, but with Lake Country's innovative 45 degree beveled edge design of the Hybrid Power Finish Pads and the ridiculously smooth nature of the 3401, they make a perfect combination for effortless machine polishing.

For use on a tradtional D/A such as the Porter Cable I would go with the Hydro-tech pads.

However if you are wanting pads to use on the 3401, I agree with Nick about the Hybrid pads. They are the best suited pads for the 3401 IMO.

Re: Lake Country Hybrid or Hydro-Tech Foam Pads?

On my PC, I prefer the HydroTech pads. I have no experience with the Flex polisher nor the Hybrid pads, but I can say, unequivocally, that the HydroTech pads are much better than the CCS on the Porter Cable.

There is really no comparison between the two, in my opinion. Plus, the fact that there is only three in the system can be a benefit for those that like simplicity.

Sorry I couldn't give input on the Hybrid pads on the 3401.

    Happy detailing!
