Polished Plastic : Sunroof Wind Deflector

I took this thing off in the process of OptiCoating my roof, so I thought I'd "restore" it. Its the plastic wind deflector in from of the sunroof.

I polished with Optimum polishes (Polish II & Finish) using a GG6 (LC 3" plate) and LC HT 3" pads (tangerine & red). For being a 13 year old piece of plastic, it came out pretty good.

    Swirls in plastic:

    50/50 after Polish:

Then applied DLux to the gasket:

    All done

Thanks. Last picture didn't turn out so great. Also, I forgot to take a pic of it back installed. I OptiCoated it as well. I'll post a beading pic when it rains or I wash it.

Excellent job. I would have to agree it turned out great for being 13 years old. Thanks for posting and sharing.

Re: Polished Plastic : Sunroof Wind Deflector

So it is ok to use a paint polish for plastics?

I am asking because my window deflector is scratched up. I want to try and restore it.

Currently, i only have poli-seal and blackfire one step. I do not have a dedicated polish. I tried the poli-seal and made it worse...

A finishing polish like Menzerma FG 3500 or 3800 will do fine for polishing plastics. Use a soft finishing pad too.
