Question Anyone ever detail a PLANE?

So my old boss asked me if I had ever detailed a plane. He owns a Piper lance that I guess needs a polish/wax/detail.

I have no idea what kind of finish is on it. My guess is a base coat paint only.

I think I might be a little nervous using my Porter Cable machine on it. I also wouldn't know what parts could be detailed and which should be avoided.

So if anyone has detailed a plane before, please let me know your experience.

    Thanks so much.

Be REALLY careful. Whilst it is not a difficult job, you need to make sure you use products which are fit for purpose. If you apply something to the screen and it isn't tested and approved for aviation use, you could find yourself in serious trouble should that aircraft ever have difficulties. As I understand, you would need to use products approved by the aviation authorities otherwise you would risk liability in the event of future incident.

Joe from Superior Shine has definitely detailed his share of aircraft, as have the folks from B&B Tennessee I believe. Hopefully they will chime in!

    There not a problem.
They have cc base. Use M20 or M66 and you'll be fine.
Also you can only use water on the tarmac. We use Waterless Wash.

Make sure to tape off the static air ports so water or polish/wax does not clog the opening. They are very small openings. If they get clogged, some of the instruments will not work.

You have to remember planes do not have as much paint as cars so you have to be careful.

I heard Hangers keepers insurance is very, very expensive. I would not work on someones plane unless you are properly insured to do so and trained to do so.
