Clay bar issues?
Hey guys, I just bought a 370z last week and today was the first day I really cleaned it. The dealer didn't wash the car so the paint was in really nice shape. Anyway the paint looked really nice and smooth so I proceeded with my porter cable and applied collinite 845. Everything went well until I started buffing the sides of the car and the finish felt "sandy" like it needed to be clayed.when I rubbed my hand over the areas, I could hear the sound of my hand running across the paint. From here, I clayed the entire car and applied more 845, but the finish was still kind of rough. So now I'm trying to figure out what to do... Do I buy a more aggressive clay and go at it again? Or do I polish the entire car? I'm currently using the pinnacle blue clay and went over the rough areas numerous times. Any suggestions will be appreciated, thanks.
P.S. Could the 845 I put on the car interfere with the claying?

Could the car have been re painted?

Hmm I don't think so. I bought the car new with 5 miles on it.

845 is a wax, try a polish or compound after you clay, and before you wax.

Do you mean the LOOK is rough or the paint still feel like sandpaper?

When touching the paint it feels "sandy". The paint looks great otherwise. I didn't think I would need to polish a new car without swirls, but maybe that will get me the "smooth as glass feel". I'm just kind of confused why the clay wouldn't take away the sandy feel.

definitely need to clay. Sometimes takes a few passes.

also look into IronX as new cars can have iron fallout and rail dust.

There is orange peel, but that shouldn't make the finish feel like sand. Anyway, I think I'll try the clay again, hopefully it will remove all the contaminants.
