    Hiring a Detailer

Hello Everybody I drove up to my Gf's house with her in the car. A kid 2 houses down (16 or 17 yr) was washing a car using a pressure washer. I said "Wow... Look at him" she then said "yeah they have a detailing business"

I said ok cool I'll go talk to him. So I did for like 10 Mins. I am thinking about hiring him to detail the interior of my car.
    Since I only do exterior.

The owner of the car before probably washed it once every 6 months. The exterior looks good but I want a specialist to do the interior only.

What specific task should I ask him to do?

    Thank you guys...

I want a restoration of the interior and I can go from there and take care of it myself by not neglecting the interior.

    Carpets washed etc...

You need to see his work and ask if he has any pictures and get references. Here is some pics of my work.

Tell him you want the interior to be completely detailed, including carpet shampooing (steaming or extraction is preferable, but I doubt if a 17 yr old has that type of equipment) all hard surfaces, headliner cleaned (beware of this, if he does not know what he is doing you could get in big trouble), vents cleaned, and the interior protected with a UV protectant.

I really doubt that a 17 year old that washes a car with a pressure washer will be able to do a truly professional job for you, but I could be wrong. You will know within a few minutes of talking to him whether he can do truly professional work or not.

If he can't, kindly thank him for his time and walk away. You could buy a few choice products off AG and do a pretty darn good job yourself.

Sorry guys let me reword it.

He did looked 16,17 but he was just washing his dad's car. I asked him about pricing and he said "my dad handles that" so it's his dads business not his. He is just the trainee using his dad's equipment to wash his own car. Kinda like I used to do when I worked at the shop my dad manages.

My Dad manages a whole AutoBody Shop. That's why I have that Production Detailer Mentality.

    Just my opinion...
But the following seems to be as good of a place to start of any:

-I wonder if they have a Business license.

-I also wonder if they have MSDS' for their detailing chemicals.

-Since vehicles' interiors have a myriad assortment of materials:
Is this detailing Business insured? What "kind of insurance"?

-Does anyone know what is this community's, (where this Detailing Business is located),
    ordinance/stance on water reclamation?
