Low-Tech Washer
I have the low-tech alternative to a power washer ... I use Adam's Ultimate Fire Hose Car Wash Nozzle (under $50). I don't know the psi pressure, which depends in part on the water pressure at your hose bib. But the narrow stream is plenty strong for washing the tires and wheels, and it has a wide stream for rinsing. A great alternative that avoids the noise of a engine-driven power washer, or where you don't have easy access to a power outlet for an electric washer.

I use Karcher HD 6 / 15C
Has High PSI
and High Gallon per minute.
2800 PSI
2.45 GPM
About 2 Hour work time... Enough for a Detailer with customers...

Costco has a Simpson electric 1700 for $139. Has it's own car shampoo container and tip attachment that works great, but I use a foam lance.

For rinsing and foaming what is a target psi for an electric pressure washer? Probably going with a karcher but still undecided. Would 1850-2000 psi be too much for the paint? Any concern in using a pressure washer to rinse and foam say 1-2 times a month?

Sam's club, Black Max 1700 psi 1.2 gpm. Have it, love it. got the 3 years warranty. Done. Paid 120 or 130. Runs my foam cannon beautifully. I have it mounted on the wall in the wash bay of my shop. The hose is long enough to reach all sides of the car.
I like that it's 1.2 gpm. Saves water and doesn't soak engine and door jams. The stream is perfect for door jams, which is, imo, the most important job for the pressure washer.

I've got a karcher 1400psi and for just normal rinsing. It was $99 at home depot and its just fine for rinsing.

Re: Recommendation for an affordable electric power washer
I had a Karcher (don't remember the model) that I used to pressure wash my deck in the spring & it started leaking before I finished the deck the 1st time. Sent it back & Karcher sent me another that worked fine .... that year.
I stored it in my basement over the winter so no chance of freezing but when I wanted to clean my deck the following year water poured out of it everywhere, seems like every seal was shot & now it was out of warranty. Total junk.
Picked up a Generac 2700psi gas powered unit & it's been working flawlessly for the last 3 years.
