Well it *looks* like it turned out ok.
Decided to try the M205/orange combo on my '12 Infiniti G37xS, Vibrant red in color. I had my daughter bring over an 'orange' pad and it looked orange to me.
Did about 3/4 of the car with the M205/'orange' pad, cleaning it along the way and really happy with what I was seeing in the Brinkmann light (Thanks again Mike!) and went back by to see an orange pad in my bag. The orange pad in the bag made my 'orange' pad look much lighter in color, kind of like tangerine!!
From what I managed to find in the store, tangerine is a small step below a true orange and is still used for light/moderate cutting which is the combo I needed apparently as my 'hard clear' warmed up to it nicely. I did use speed 6 though.
Anyone else ever gotten these two mixed up? I think I need to mark mine with the color tonight on the Velcro side. I'll try to add a pic or two of the finished result but it really did make the small clearcoat scratches vanish.

Was that a Hydrotech Tangerine pad you wound up using with M205?

I go by the color of the Velcro on the back of the pads.
White=Hydrotech
Black=LC flat

I have so many pads from so many places from so many years I actually have scorecards stuck in with some of them to keep the colors straight.
For instance black is usually a finishing pad but Edge pads I believe use a black cutting pad, and the Cyclo pads were also a little weird. Besides the orange and tangerine, there are also a number of green pads that aren't the same, and LC which is usually pretty consistent turned the Hybrid pads upside down from the Hydro-Tech coloring.
You have to applaud Rupes with the bottles of polish with the caps color-coded to the pads, and some mfrs who label the use of the pad on the velcro.

Thankfully the megs MF kit does that too, there is a layer of foam that is coded to either reddish for cutting or gray/blue for finishing wax.
