Brake dust that wont come off of rim?

So on the sides of a couple spokes on 1 of my rims it always looks like its dirty! I have tried clay and magic earaser and that only took a little off, but didn't make any visual difference. I tried Sonax for the the first time today and that did not take it off either! I hate it. My rims are BMW OEM painted clear-coated. I cant get this stuff off. What do I do?

I would recommend using IronX being that you already attempted to clean your wheels with clay.

Yeah but Sonax removes the iron particles from brake dust. Why would I buy IronX if Sonax will do the same and is targeted for brake dust. This stuff is like embedded in the clear coat and looks almost like pitting. I will try to get a picture of it tonight

clean with rim cleaner, and then try a little paint polish since the wheels appear coated.

Quite frankly, my experience with BMW wheels is the clear coat is very fragile. I've owned 3 BMWS - each of the wheels had clear coat failure. My advice would be do not use anything too aggressive - or you are likely to make it worse in the long run. I don't think wheel cleaners will help.

I would try a medium paint polish on a buffer cone on a drill. I just used this on my roof rack rails and it works well. If it doesn't come off with that, its likely embedded in the clear coat (melted in?) and best left alone. A refinish may be your only option if your seeking perfection, that's what I did - followed by OptiCoat.

So is this clear coat failure? If so is it covered under the wheel and tire warranty? Probably isn't, but its worth asking
